Congratulations to Bentley A, the 2007 NAQT Northern California Champions! On April 29, 2007, sixteen Bay Area quiz bowl teams competed in the 2007 NAQT Northern California Championship, held at the Menlo School in Atherton, CA. In the final round, Bentley A defeated Gunn A by a score of 285-175.

Teams first played 5 preliminary matches against random opponents. Full statistics from those rounds are here. The preliminary matches were used to determine individual awards. The top 12 scorers were:

4. Hayden Greifneill (Bentley A) 50 PPG

6. Max Fox (Gunn A) 43 PPG
7. Anand (Harker B) 42 PPG
8. Charles (Evergreen Valley) 41.11 PPG
9. Spencer (Harker B) 36.67 PPG
10 (tie). Colin (Menlo School) 36 PPG
10 (tie). Karl (Mills) 36 PPG
10 (tie). Joe (Clayton Valley) 36 PPG

For playoffs, teams were separated into three brackets: A, B, and C. The results for the top teams, playing in the A bracket were:

4-1 Gunn A
4-1 Bentley A
2-3 Harker B
2-3 Mills
2-3 Sacred Heart
1-4 Harker A

Since Gunn A and Bentley A were tied in playoff record, they played a one game final for the championship, which Bentley A won, 285-175. Congratulations to everyone who participated, and thanks to everyone who helped put on the tournament!
